Birth Support

Doula comes from the Greek word and is about mothering the mother, giving her continuous support and care during labour and birth.

I have had the great honour to support many parents through labour and birth, pregnancy is a wonderful gift and every birth should be cherished.  I believe birth and parenting is very personal and that every parent should be able to make their own informed choices.  As a mother of three children and a qualified doula, antenatal educator, yoga instructor, baby massage teacher and breastfeeding counsellor I feel I can really help support the family during and after birth.

With each and every client I like to build a solid foundation of trust and friendship and to be their every step of the way through their pregnancy and parenting journey.  Over the ten years of working with families and babies I have learn’t so much and with each new client I learn even more, I believe I am very patient, kind and loyal and I love what I do and feel this shines through in my work.

A recent research report stated that women supported by a doula during labour and birth have been shown the following:

25% shorter labour
60% reduction in epidural requests
30% reduction in analgesia use
40% reduction in forceps delivery

As part of your package, there is one pre birth meeting, followed by regular telephone calls to see how your getting on, once in labour I will then stay with you for the duration of labour and birth. There is also a home visit following your birth.

Postnatal Support

I like to call this session ‘TIME’ where it gives you the opportunity to ask questions and gain support for you and your baby.

What can be covered; feeding support, bathing, changing, sleep routines, baby massage, winding, holding positions, understanding your baby’s signals, settling techniques and reflexology for mum.

Cost: $150 per hour (after two hours is $80 per hour)

Through the second and third trimester of pregnancy reflexology can be a wonderful way to help relax, balance and support your body as labour approaches. It also helps to balance out the hormones and support the body’s immune system.

  • 1hrs reflexology sessions cost $85
  • Six sessions cost $420 and can be a combination of sessions for pre and post birth
